Greg is cofounder and Managing Associate of UIX Global, founder and editor of the blog IMPACT URBANISM, and cofounder of the Deep Blue Institute (focused on regenerative marine infrastructure and Blue Economy development). He is an internationally recognized consultant, teacher, speaker, and writer specializing in sustainable economic development and public-private partnerships (P3s) for Green Cities and Smart Cities.
Greg has over 15 years of international experience in economic development, urban design, and regional planning policy, managing multidisciplinary teams in the formulation and execution of innovative development strategies, including applied research on integrated sustainability tools and techniques for emerging economies in peripheral Europe and Latin America (e.g. Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay).
Greg is an architect, licensed landscape architect (CA #4759), and economic development specialist for sustainable development models, including finance consulting for entrepreneurs and Greentech startups. He has a Professional BArch in architecture from the University of Notre Dame, masters degrees in landscape architecture and city planning from UC Berkeley, and a Master in Sustainability and Local Economic Development from UNIFE in Ferrara, Italy. He is a cofounder and steering committee member of the Eco-Polis International Master; was a contract professor for UNIFE, the UC Berkeley Extension landscape certificate program; and is a visiting lecturer at the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design, the California College of Arts Design MBA Program, the Presidio Graduate School MBA/MPA, and Sapienza University of Rome.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Greg’s passion for learning and exploration has led him to extended periods of foreign residency, travel, and the cultivation of relationships that have immersed him in the intricacies of diverse cultures and ways of life. He is a connoisseur of food, music, and design, and revels in the learning that comes from the dynamic and passionate debate of conflicting ideals.
